Alex is a psychiatrist and Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), as well as an associate member of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Psychotherapy (ANZAP).
Alex is passionate about psychotherapy. Areas of special interest include complex trauma, depression/anxiety, and ADHD. He works with people from a diverse range of backgrounds, including civilian, military/LE/first responders, and the LGBTQI+ community.
As a medical doctor, Alex is qualified to review and prescribe medication. He aims to use the minimum effective dose and understands some people will prefer not to take medication.
Alex believes strongly in the importance of regular clinical supervision and life-long learning.
Alex has worked in many different parts of our healthcare system, providing short and longer term mental health care in hospital wards, emergency departments, crisis teams, and community mental health teams.
Alex understands that some people may be nervous about seeking help, perhaps based on past experiences. He tries to be sensitive to this and adopts a non-judgmental approach which values and respects the individual and their choices.
