Short-term Psychotherapy

Short-term psychotherapy is usually offered on a weekly or fortnightly basis.

A typical course of short-term psychotherapy lasts between 8 and 12 sessions.

The therapies currently available are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), short-term dynamic therapy, and Mindfulness-based Interventions.

Longer term Psychotherapy

Longer term psychotherapy is usually offered on a weekly or twice-weekly basis for a minimum of one year. A typical course of longer term psychotherapy can last several years.

The therapy available is the Conversational Model of psychotherapy, which has evidence in the treatment of depression, complex trauma, and personality disorder.

Dr Strachan’s practice is informed by contemporary psychoanalytic views, including relational psychoanalytic perspectives. These are modern, evidence-based approaches which retain power and depth, while continuing to incorporate scientific advances from fields such as neuroscience, interpersonal neurobiology, and attachment theory.
